You entrust us with your child throughout the term. Boarding is not separate from school life; it is integral to it.
When lessons end, education continues. The hours in the boarding house are equivalent to the time a child in a day school would spend at home with parents. During that time we provide structured oversight, steady discipline, recreation, warmth and Christian formation — the daily influences that shape character and prepare young people for adult life.
Because we are deliberately small, staff know each pupil well. We notice changes in mood, friendships, effort, setbacks and successes. We guide, we correct and we encourage. Expectations are clear, standards are consistent, and pupils are never left to drift.
A resident adult is present in each boarding house throughout the night, ensuring that pupils are supervised, supported and secure at all times.

Mealtimes matter
Mealtimes are part of education, not a break from it.
They provide nourishment, certainly, but they also build habits that last a lifetime: courtesy, patience, conversation, gratitude and consideration for others. Academic topics often reappear around the table as questions, debate and curiosity. Some of the best teaching moments of the day happen there.
For that reason, meals are always supervised by members of staff who ensure standards, model behaviour and keeps the atmosphere warm, respectful and purposeful.
Boarding at Troutbeck is designed to feel like a well-run home: structured, caring, and full of opportunity to grow.
